New College Lanarkshire welcomes applications from anyone who is care-experienced, and we are committed to providing the right support. We understand that coming to college can be an exciting but also sometimes, an unsettling experience, and we want to support you when taking this step. We offer advice and guidance to help at all stages of your learner journey, pre-entry, on course, and support with the next steps after college.
We have an enduring commitment to supporting our care-experienced learners. We provide information about the help available, and can give you support completing your application and deciding which course is right for you.
The college can liaise with your local authority to ensure a smooth transition into college life, if required. We can arrange individual visits for you and a friend, adviser or parent/guardian, to introduce you to the college and cover anything you need to know.
We aim to prioritise the processing of funding for care-experienced young people. We have a team of funding advisers who can offer financial advice and assistance specific to your set of circumstances. Please call 0300 555 8080 and ask to speak to Student Funding.

Funding support we offer

We aim to prioritise funding for young people in care or care leavers. Young people in care and care leavers may be awarded a Care Experienced Bursary on clarification of their Care Experienced status.
In addition, there may be some flexibility in relation to attendance. However, this would have to be agreed with your Academic Leader for the individual programme.
